Situated in the past residence of Laurent Bonaparte (the nephew of Napoleon) is the beautiful Shangri-La Paris. From the moment we approached the building we were struck by the incredible architecture and the historic Parisian atmosphere of the property.
As we waited to check-in to the hotel, we enjoyed a drink in the parlour. The front desk staff met us here and we were able to check-in in comfort while enjoying our drinks and snacks.
The entire lobby area was adorned with beautiful flowers and works of art.
The front desk is simple, yet stylish, and blends in very nicely with the entire feel of the lobby of the Shangri-La Paris.
We took a small elevator from the lobby up to our floor. We were fortunate to have a room with a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower which was made even more special by being able to enjoy it from a very large terrace.
The terrace ran the entire length of our room and was well equipped with a small table and chairs as well as two other chairs that provided comfortable venues from which to look over Paris.
We could see the left bank from our terrace.
Our room itself was quite large at 55 square meters (approximately 592 square feet).
The King sized bed was luxurious and, if that wasn’t enough, we could see the Eiffel tower through the french balcony doors from the comfort of bed. This room at the Shangri-La Paris was truly exceptional.
Our welcome amenities included Champagne and Macaroons. The staff at the Shangri-La Paris also went above and beyond by providing a delicious chocolate cake as we were celebrating a birthday during our visit.
Everything was expertly presented and it was almost a shame to eat it.
The room was also stocked with a beautiful tea set and an espresso machine.
As with other Shangri-La properties, the welcome tea was Jasmine and it was delivered in this beautiful wicker basket.
The bathroom was quite spacious and also had large widows from which the view of the Eiffel Tower could also be enjoyed.
The bathroom amenities were Bulgari.
Our bathroom also had a wonderful tub, separate shower stall and the toilet in a private room.
As wonderful as the room was, we spent a lot of our time on the balcony taking in the Eiffel Tower and the view of Paris. We decided to spend the evening enjoying our chocolate cake and champagne as we waited for the tower to light up at night.
As night approached, the Eiffel Tower lit up and we were taken away by the beauty of the tower and amazed by our room at the Shangri-La Paris that provided such a beautiful view.
Here is a video of the Champagne Flash that happens every hour on the hour and lasts for 5 minutes.
At 1 am, the entire tower goes dark except for the flash, and the effect is wonderful.
Staying at the Shangri-La Paris was a truly special experience that we will always remember. From the beautiful room, the fantastic staff, and the amazing view, this property should be high on anyone’s list of places to stay in Paris. I highly recommend staying in one of the rooms with a terrace with the Eiffel Tower view. This is a once in a lifetime experience that will stay with you forever and can make any special occasion (in our case a birthday) an even more special event.
